Union Pacific intermodal storage: where the policy is and how it works

Union Pacific publishes an Intermodal Storage Policy page with domestic and international free time and a day-by-day charge table. Free time starts after the unit is notified, and a day the terminal is closed all day is not counted. Its official tariffs and circulars supersede the page.

What UP publishes

The Intermodal Storage Policy page, under the Intermodal Resource Center , gives separate free time for domestic and international units and charge tables by day. We do not copy them. What it says in words:

The resource center also lists Intermodal Terms & Conditions and an intermodal holiday schedule.

Using it

Ask for the notification date and compare with the invoice. This clock starts at notification, not ocean discharge, so it is not the ocean last free day . Rail is not in our calculator yet; see rail storage vs ocean demurrage .
