Import guides by destination
What each destination asks for, in the order you will need it. These guides explain the method; your own case needs your own documents.
- Importing into the UAE: documents and customs
A UAE import needs a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and usually a certificate of origin. Most goods pay the GCC common duty on the CIF value, then VAT on the value including duty.
- Importing into Saudi Arabia: documents, SABER and customs
Many regulated products need SABER certificates before shipping: a product certificate, then a shipment certificate. Duty is charged on the CIF value and VAT on the value including duty.
- Importing into Turkey: documents, additional duty and VAT
Goods from China can carry Turkey's additional customs duty (İGV) on top of the normal duty, and some carry anti-dumping duty. VAT is charged on the value including all duties.
- Importing into the EU: TARIC, anti-dumping and import VAT
EU duty comes from the 10-digit TARIC code and is charged on the customs value. Anti-dumping measures on Chinese goods can be much larger than the duty. Import VAT is national and is not in TARIC.
- Importing into the US: HTS, extra layers on Chinese goods, ISF
US duty starts from the 10-digit HTS code. Goods of Chinese origin can carry several additional duty layers on top, which changed often recently. Ocean imports also need an ISF filing before loading.
