Importing into Turkey: documents, additional duty and VAT

Goods from China can carry Turkey's additional customs duty (İGV) on top of the normal duty, and some carry anti-dumping duty. VAT is charged on the value including all duties.

Documents

Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, and conformity documents where the product requires them.

How the duty is calculated

  1. Customs value: CIF.
  2. Base customs duty for the 12-digit GTİP code.
  3. Additional customs duty for origins without a trade agreement, which includes China.
  4. Anti-dumping duty, if a measure covers the product and origin.
  5. VAT on the customs value plus all duties.

Rates change by decree during the year, sometimes before the published Excel files catch up. Purserhouse does not yet calculate Turkish duty (the tariff is published as scanned documents it cannot read reliably), so a Turkish duty figure is answered as “not calculated”. Check the current decree annexes.
